- 1 pie crust
- 4 cups fresh spinach
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream or milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1/2 onion (optional, chopped)
- 1 clove garlic (optional, minced)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pie crust and place it into a pie dish.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté chopped onion and garlic until soft.
- Add the spinach to the skillet and cook just until wilted.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Spread the sautéed spinach mixture into the crust and top with shredded cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture over the spinach and cheese.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, until set and golden.
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
