Description
A delicious spicy tuna melt sandwich with a flavorful zesty filling on crispy sourdough bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water, drained
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sriracha or hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, sriracha, Dijon mustard, finely chopped celery, red onion, parsley, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly until well-blended.
- Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread generously.
- Lay out four slices of bread unbuttered sides facing up. Divide the spicy tuna salad evenly among these slices.
- Top each sandwich with shredded cheddar cheese and a few thin tomato slices.
- Cover the sandwiches with the remaining bread slices, ensuring that the buttered sides are facing outward.
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread turns golden-brown and the cheese is melted.
- Slice the sandwiches in half and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
Make the tuna salad a day in advance for better flavor. Avoid overmixing to maintain texture.
