Description

Delicious homemade pop-tarts filled with savory breakfast sausage and creamy filling, perfect for elevating your mornings.


Ingredients

  • 115 g breakfast sausage (or turkey/plant-based sausage)
  • 310 ml whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free)
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Flaky pastry dough (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to pastry dough instructions.
  2. In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, brown the breakfast sausage, breaking it up until fully cooked.
  3. Sprinkle flour and black pepper over the sausage and stir to combine.
  4. Whisk in the milk until the mixture thickens, then remove from heat.
  5. Roll out the pastry dough to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into rectangles (4×6 inches).
  6. Place spoonfuls of the sausage mixture on one half of each rectangle.
  7. Fold over the dough, press to seal, and crimp the edges with a fork.
  8. Bake on a lined baking sheet until golden brown and flaky.
