- 2 cups milk
- 6 cups cubed bread

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped onion (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled sausage until nicely browned, about 6-8 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and mustard powder until well combined.
- Gently fold in the cubed bread, cooked sausage, shredded cheese, and any optional vegetables.
- Grease your casserole dish generously, then pour the mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.
- Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate it overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning. Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown on top.
- Let the casserole cool for about five minutes, then slice into squares and serve.
Notes
For a lighter option, use turkey sausage and almond milk. Customize the dish by using different cheeses or adding vegetables.
