Description

A comforting blend of ground beef, tender orzo, and bubbling cheese, all baked in one skillet for ease and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat, draining any excess fat.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion and garlic for about 2-3 minutes until softened.
  4. Combine the diced tomatoes, beef broth, orzo, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  5. Simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes, covered, until orzo is tender and most liquid is absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbling and golden brown.
  8. Garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or plant-based meat alternatives.
