Description

Fluffy, golden old fashioned pancakes perfect for a leisurely breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter plus more for cooking
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a second bowl, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until they blend smoothly.
  3. Gently combine the wet and dry ingredients by folding them together. Be careful not to overmix; it’s okay if the batter is a little lumpy.
  4. Preheat your griddle over medium heat. You can test if it’s ready by sprinkling a few drops of water on it; they should sizzle and dance.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until they are golden brown.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Serve with maple syrup, fresh fruits, or whipped cream. Optional variations include chocolate chip pancakes or banana pancakes.
