Description

A comforting and indulgent breakfast casserole that features layers of bread, ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese, soaked in a rich custard.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread (preferably challah or brioche)
  • 4 ounces sliced ham
  • 4 ounces sliced turkey
  • 4 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar for serving
  • Warm jam for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the baking dish.
  2. Layer the bread slices in the dish, covering the bottom completely.
  3. Layer the ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese over the bread evenly.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth; pour this mixture over the layered bread and meats.
  5. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until set and golden brown.
  7. Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm with jam.
