  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • For the Caramel Sauce:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×9-inch baking dish by greasing it with nonstick spray or melted butter.
  3. Cube the cinnamon swirl bread into 2.5 cm cubes and spread evenly in the dish.
  4. Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring each piece is coated. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is slightly jiggly.
  7. Make the caramel sauce by combining sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat until dissolved. Cook without stirring until it turns amber. Add butter, cream, salt, and vanilla; whisk until smooth.
  8. Serve the warm bread pudding drizzled with caramel sauce.

For the best texture, use slightly stale bread and allow it to soak overnight for deeper flavors.
