Description

These Sloppy Joes combine savory beef with sweet caramelized onions and melted Swiss cheese, served on toasted buns.


Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Add sliced onions to the skillet and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until golden and caramelized.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  5. Drain excess fat from the skillet, then stir in Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. Season with thyme, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
  7. Toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
  8. Assemble the Sloppy Joes by scooping the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, topping with Swiss cheese, and placing the top bun over.
  9. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.
