Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (85% lean)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add the thinly sliced onions and cook undisturbed for about 10-12 minutes until golden and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
- Introduce the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Increase heat slightly, add the ground beef, and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer on low for 5 minutes.
- Toast your hamburger buns until golden brown.
- Scoop the beef mixture onto each bun’s bottom half, top with Swiss cheese, and close with the top bun.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Prepare the beef mixture a day in advance and store in the fridge. Reheat before assembling. Customize with toppings like sautéed mushrooms or jalapeños.
