Description

A comforting dish featuring bowtie pasta coated in a creamy garlic sauce with Cajun-spiced ground beef.


Ingredients

  • 12 ounces bowtie pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil and cook the bowtie pasta until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. After about 5 minutes, add the Cajun seasoning and set the beef aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic for 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the heavy cream, simmer for 3-4 minutes, then stir in the cheddar and Parmesan until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add the beef back to the skillet along with the cooked pasta, tossing to coat. If too thick, loosen with reserved pasta water. Finish with parsley before serving.

Notes

For a lighter dish, substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based crumbles. You can also use milk instead of heavy cream for a thinner sauce.
