- 1 package puff pastry
- 1 cup cherries (fresh or frozen)
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for wash)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling by mixing cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and cherries until smooth.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle, approximately 12×16 inches.
- Make slits along the long sides of the pastry, about 1 to 2 inches apart.
- Spread the cherry cream cheese mixture in the center of the pastry.
- Braid the pastry by folding the slits over the filling, alternating sides.
- Brush the pastry with an egg wash.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
- Optional: Drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar and milk after cooling.
Notes
Make the filling and dough in advance for an easy assembly. You can also use different fruits for filling.
