Description

A comforting Salisbury steak recipe that brings nostalgic flavors to the table, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 8 ounces mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. Form into four patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Brown the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until a nice crust forms, then set aside.
  4. Add sliced onions and mushrooms to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes until tender and slightly caramelized.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the onion and mushroom mixture and stir for about a minute.
  6. Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking, then bring to a simmer until thickened.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet, cover with gravy, and simmer for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  8. Adjust seasoning before serving, and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
