Description
Delightfully gooey and sweet cinnamon rolls filled with cinnamon and sugar, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

- 4–5 cups (520g-650g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 package) instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup (180mL) water
- 1/2 cup (120mL) whole milk
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, cut into 4 slices
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, very soft
- 3/4 cup (150g) packed brown sugar, light or dark
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 4 oz (115g) full fat block cream cheese, room temperature
- 5 tablespoons (70g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups (195g) powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Whisk together to combine.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, blend the water, milk, and sliced butter. Microwave until the butter melts and the mixture is warm.
- Whisk the egg into the warm mixture.
- Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon until you have a thick and sticky dough.
- Gradually add another cup of flour and mix until the dough starts to come together.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, adding flour as needed. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll into a rectangle about 14 by 10 inches.
- Spread softened butter over the rolled dough, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly from the longer side into a log and cut into 12 rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the icing by combining cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Spread icing over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
These cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed warm and can be served with coffee or tea. Store leftover rolls in an airtight container.
