Description
A stunning dessert that layers fresh strawberries, creamy vanilla pudding, and light angel food cake for a delightful experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box angel food cake mix (or 1 prepared angel food cake)
- 1 1/4 cups water (for cake mix, if using)
- 5–6 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 package vanilla instant pudding mix (3.4 oz)
- 3 cups cold milk
- Whipped cream or Cool Whip (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the angel food cake according to the package directions. Once baked, allow it to cool completely before cutting.
- Toss the sliced strawberries with sugar in a bowl. Let them sit for 15-20 minutes until they release their juices and become syrupy.
- Whisk the vanilla pudding mix with cold milk for 2 minutes. Let it stand for 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- In your trifle dish, start with half of the cake cubes at the bottom. Spread half of the pudding over the cake layer.
- Next, spoon half of the strawberries along with a drizzle of the syrup over the pudding.
- Repeat the layers: add the remaining cake cubes, followed by the rest of the pudding, and finish with the remaining strawberries on top.
- If you’re feeling indulgent, add a layer of whipped cream at this stage.
- Cover your trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 120 minutes.
Notes
Assemble the trifle a day in advance for the best flavor and texture. For an alternative method, consider making the angel food cake in an air fryer.
