- 1/2 cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup (100g) dark brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup (4 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large bowl using a microwave or double boiler until fully melted.
- Add dark brown sugar and granulated sugar to the warm butter and whisk until combined.
- Whisk in eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
- Stir in all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. If using, gently fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour the brownie batter into a prepared baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Check doneness by inserting a skewer in the center; it should come out clean with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool in the dish for 10 to 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool fully. Slice into squares and enjoy.
