Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup (100g) dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup (4 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large bowl using a microwave or double boiler until fully melted.
  2. Add dark brown sugar and granulated sugar to the warm butter and whisk until combined.
  3. Whisk in eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Stir in all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. If using, gently fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into a prepared baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes.
  6. Check doneness by inserting a skewer in the center; it should come out clean with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool in the dish for 10 to 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool fully. Slice into squares and enjoy.
